2013 Frei João Reserva red
概要
After a manual harvest, rigorous selection, and total destemming, the grapes macerated for 12 days in lagares with pneumatic treading. At the end of the malolactic fermentation the wine aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Bottled after minimum clarification. Ageing potential of 10 to 15 years.
Founded in 1920 by brothers José, Manuel and Albano Costa, Caves São João is a family business that, at first, was dedicated to marketing fine Douro wines and liqueurs.
What is now the oldest family wine company still operating in the municipality of Anadia, began marketing Bairrada table wines in the 1930s, with the ban on producing port outside Vila Nova de Gaia.
Thus, at the end of the 1950s, one of the most famous wine brands in the Bairrada region was born, Frei João and, later on, the brand Porta dos Cavaleiros, in the demarcated region of Dão.
