Located 40km south of Bordeaux, Sauternes is the most prestigious dessert wine appelation in Bordeaux. It produces magical and precious nectars. These ‘haute-couture wines’, are made from botrytised sémillon grapes in a terroir with ideal soils and microclimate. The Chateau Roumieu has been in the same family since the eighteenth century and constituted, on numerous occasions during both the eihteenth and nineteenth centuries, the dowry of the women of the family. Each geration has retained the some love of the terroir, respect for traditional methods of wine growing and a belief in the moral duty to transmit this knowledge from generation to generation.
