In 2006 for the first time a wine brand João Clara Tinto Vinho Regional do Algarve is launched, the first edition was a dream and work of a young producer Joaquim Alves who chooses António Maçanita as oenologist and Júlio Antão to design the first bottle, developing the brand image of João Clara. The label for this first bottle was inspired on the chimney, symbol of the Algarve Region, which comes from the arabe occupation of five centuries. Quinta João Clara is located in Vale de Lousas, Alcantarilha with an area of 26 hectares, where various farming activities are developed, although the most prominent is the culture of vines, that covers an area of 8,5 hectares, growing different grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Alicante-Bouschet, Aragones, Trincadeira, Negramole, Crato Branco, Arinto, Verdelho, Moscatel and Red Globe.
