2014 Terras de Santo António Reserva red

Quinta de Santo António is located in Fornos de Maceira Dão, in the municipality of Mangualde, and has a total area of about 30 hectares, of which about 11 hectares are of mostly old vineyard, constituted by the main castes of the region, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Rufete and Encruzado. The house is one of the oldest estates in the county. The first body dates from the 16th century and is characterized by a simple front with lightly decorated windows and an original Manueline style corner window. Later, a Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony, beloved of the borders and protector of the herds was added, whose construction began in 1736 and was not affected by the earthquake of 1755. Later, in the 20th century, the third body of the manor that includes the majestic clock tower. The vineyard has always had a very important role throughout the life of Quinta and the region. Already in the first charter of the Count D. Henrique, of 1102, the grape production was referred and taxed. The current owner acquired the House in 1999, with the purpose of producing high quality farm wines that express the unique character of Dão.
