Torre do Frade is a family Farm located in Monforte municipality in the heart of Alto Alentejo, south of Portugal, near the border with Extremadura. The history of the estate dates back to the distant year of 1384 when the original owner donated the land to the Hermits of the Order of St. Agostinho, here the friars establish a convent that was in force until 1834, when the religious orders were expelled from Portugal by Joaquim António de Aguiar, Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs and Justice at the time. With the expulsion of the friars, the lands were sold at public auction and was bought by the family in 1839. Since that day his mission is for the production of food products of excellence with a quality index above the ordinary.
