2019 Kanonkop Estate Pinotage red

Kanonkop Estate is a red wine produced from the traditional South African grape variety, Pinotage. The grapes, sourced from vineyards aged between 32 and 66 years, tend to give an exotic aromatic profile. After 16 months of vinification and ageing in French oak barrels, this is a deep ruby colour wine with vibrant blueberry, ripe plum, and black cherry aromas combined with sweet spice notes of cinnamon and vanilla. In the mouth it is elegant but dense, loaded with aromas of jammy berries and notes of Christmas spices, with a long and persistent finish. Its ripe tannins lend potential for bottle ageing.

The Pinotage grape variety is the result of a cross between the Pinot Noir grape variety and Hermitage, combining the names of the two.
