2020 Tenuta Guado al Tasso Cont'Ugo Bolgheri red

Cont’Ugo is produced entirely with Merlot as a new interpretation of the Bolgheri territory. The vineyards grow at an altitude that varies between 45 and 60 meters (147/196 feet) above sea level on clay-loam soils that are of alluvial origin that give the wine deep complex notes while preserving the fragrance and freshness typical of Merlot berries.

The Antinori family has been dedicated to wine production for over six hundred years. Since then, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always managed this activity directly, making innovative and sometimes brave choices, but always maintaining an unchanged respect for tradition and territory.

Tenuta Guado al Tasso is located in the small and prestigious Bolgheri Controlled Designation of Origin area, on the coast of the Alta Maremma, about one hundred kilometres southwest of Florence. This appellation has a relatively short history. Established in 1994, it now boasts international fame as a new benchmark on the world wine scene. Tenuta Guado al Tasso covers an area of approximately 320 hectares of vineyard on a splendid plain surrounded by hills known as the "Bolgheri amphitheatre" for its particular conformation.
