The Tommasi story begins in 1902 when Giacomo Tommasi decides to acquire a small plot of land in Valpolicella Classica, Veneto region. With commitment and hard work, the following generations could expand the business into five more different regions with the acquisition of seven properties, totalling around 570 hectares of vines.

Poggio al Tufo represents the expression of the pioneering spirit and the first step outside the historic vineyards of the Tommasi family in Valpolicella. The property was built in 1997 and is located near the village of Pitigliano, surrounded by cliffs dotted with caves and tuff quarries excavated in Etruscan times, which represent the strength and potential of Maremma.
