The company Sociedade Agrícola de Pias, founded in 1973 by José Veiga Margaça, had in its beginning, as its first brand of wine sold in bulk and in demijohn, the brand "Margaça", the name of its founder who dealt and lived with the people of Pias and all those who worked with the company, whether customers, suppliers or friends. The winery quickly became known as "Adega do Margaça" as José Veiga Margaça had a dynamic and unusual personality as a businessman, entrepreneur and friend. The launch of his second brand "Encostas do Enxoé" in 1988, unanimously recognised at the time as a wine of enviable quality, was one of his great achievements and marked the start of the sale of bottled wine. Over the years, new brands were created, reflecting new wines with different categories and profiles, and new strategies were adopted.
