2021 Pèppoli Chianti Classico red

Its extensive estates, including the Pèppoli estate, were divided among the Florentine nobles. The first were the Gondi and then the Cerchi, who, in the 16th century, built a small and elegant chapel dedicated to their ancestor Santa Umiliana which today, recently restored, has returned to its former splendour. Tenuta Pèppoli is situated five kilometres northeast of Tenuta Tignanello and covers a total area of 100 hectares, 50 of which are planted with vineyards. The property has been in the Antinori Family since 1985, as a commemoration of the centenary of the family's winemaking activity.

The Antinori family has been dedicated to wine production for over six hundredyears. Since then, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always managed this activity directly, making innovative and sometimes brave choices, but always maintaining an unchanged respect for tradition and territory. In 1379, when the Guelphs were defeated by the Ghibellines, the nearby monastery of Badia a Passignano was partially destroyed and later abandoned.
