MR is the entry point to the historic natural sweet wines of Málaga. Made from the Moscatel de Alexandria grape variety (also known as Moscatel Graúdo), grown in traditional and reasonably priced vineyards, 100% on their rootstock. After natural fermentation is spontaneously interrupted, the wine is aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks.

The great wines of the past were often sweet: Tokaji, Sauternes, Vin Santos, Madeira, Late Harvest Rieslings, and Vin de Paille, all associated with the great wine regions of the Old World. In the 1990s, Telmo Rodriguez decided to revive what had undoubtedly once been the most important of all: the "Mountain Wine" of Malaga. They faced difficult, almost impossible vineyards that miraculously survived thanks to the tradition of raisin production. They worked the ravines of Competa for over 20 years, producing confidential wines such as MR, Old Mountain and Mountain Blanco, which helped to breathe new life into viticulture that might have disappeared.
