Fat Baron is a single varietal Syrah wine, full of flavour and with a deep garnet colour that reveals all the typical characteristics of this grape variety. It was aged for at least 4 months in French and American oak barrels, which gave it some complexity. The aroma is characterised by red fruits combined with spices. The palate is full-bodied, with a velvety texture and ripe tannins, notes of red plums, raspberries, black pepper, vanilla and hints of Mediterranean herbs.

Started in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, continued by Germana Freitas and later by Ermelinda Freitas, it has always paid special attention to wine. Since the first generation, this house has been committed to the quality of the vineyards and the wines, which were initially produced and sold in bulk without its own brand.

It was with the current management, Leonor Freitas, that the great change occurred and, in 1997, a new cycle began for this centuries-old family business, with the first wine produced and bottled under the name Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
