This 27-year-old single malt was released as part of the famous "Timeless" series. It is initially matured in Jerez and ex-Bourbon barrels for 15 years, and then moved to the first fill of Oloroso Jerez tips for a further 12 years. It is dark golden in colour with aromas of plum jam and sultana notes with a strong Oloroso influence. Caramel and maple syrup, liquorice, grilled orange peel and smoked seaweed are also found at the olfactory level. In the mouth, tobacco and light smoky notes stand out.
Founded over two centuries ago in 1779, Bowmore is Islay's first registered distillery and one of the oldest in all of Scotland. Islay's malts are famous for their smoky peaty aroma and Bowmore is no exception. This Whisky is carefully smoked in peat kilns, just as its ancestors did over 200 years ago.
