The members of the Delaforce family, of Huguenot origin, have a history linked to the wine trade, going back over 400 years.
Their involvement in the Port Wine business dates back to 1834 when John Fleurriet Delaforce travelled to the city of Porto to found the new company of Martinez Gassiot on behalf of his partners. In 1868, his son George Henry Delaforce, inspired by the richness of the Douro and the world of Port, founded his own company, House of Delaforce.
