Fernet Branca was first produced in 1845 in Milan, Italy. It is produced by macerating numerous herbs and spices, aged in oak barrels for a long period. The ingredients include aloe, codeine, bay leaf, wormwood, orange peel, ginseng, St John's wort, sage, mint oil, and saffron, all marinated in a base of wine brandy. Thanks to its clean, dry taste, it can be mixed into many cocktails.
