2021 Casa da Passarella Villa Oliveira Uva-Cão white

This Villa Oliveira was created exclusively from the Uva-Cão grape variety, a variety that was almost extinct, from vineyards planted on granite soils in the Serra da Estrela sub-region of Dão. Citrus in colour and with an aroma of white fruits, it reveals enormous freshness, delicacy, complexity and a very long finish. It is a wine produced with an approach that combines tradition with innovation and modernity, revealing great potential for ageing in the bottle.

This is a producer that has risen from the ashes. It has come to stay and write a new story, but the history of this house is ancient, dating back to the 19th century when it was built. Great wines were born from this house and these vineyards. Who doesn't remember the P63, vinified at the time by José Maria da Fonseca. As fate would have it, it was "abandoned" to the world of wine, leaving only a faint memory of the great wines that were born there. Fate also decided that the new owner would be a man of good taste, with an extreme dedication to doing things well. The new Casa da Passarella was born to write a new chapter in the history of this house and the Dão region. The wines are excellent and are made with rigour and a great desire to do the best.
