Michel Couvreur believed that the true character of whisky was shaped above all by the way it matured. More than terroir or the distiller’s touch, it was the ageing in oak casks that, in his view, transformed grain spirit into genuine whisky.
From 1978 onwards, having settled in the Burgundy region of France, he fully dedicated himself to this vision. He even described it as a form of cross-pollination — a meticulous, almost alchemical process that became his life’s work.
