2021 Max Ferd. Richter Veldenzer Elisenberg Riesling Spätlese white

After the first title-deed in Brauneberg on 17th April 1643, the company was founded in 1680 and its winemaking tradition can be traced back over 300 years of family history, always with the maxim: "Great wines are made in the vineyard, not in the cellar".

In 1774, the founder's grandson built a beautiful manor house with a garden in the architectural style that prevailed at the time. Almost a century later, in 1880, Max Ferd.Richter built a modern cellar housing one of the largest collections of wooden casks in the Mosel region.  The company is currently in the 9th generation of the family, with a member of the 10th generation, Constantin MF Richter, already taking an active part in its business since the summer of 2012.

This 45-year-old Riesling vineyard is planted southeast of the Mosel River and is integrated in a microclimate reminiscent of Saar-Ruwer style wines. The grapes are hand-harvested and the must is fermented under temperature control in traditional old oak barrels, using the presence of indigenous yeasts. It has a retrograde nose, revealing aromas such as pear, tannin, ginger, Provence herbs and slight smoky notes.
