Abegoaria is a family project deeply connected to Portuguese identity, born from the Bio family’s passion for their land, their people and the promotion of national products. Originating in the inland Alentejo region, on the left bank of the Guadiana River, the group has gradually expanded across several Portuguese wine regions while maintaining a strong connection to terroir, tradition and the sustainable development of local communities.

Since 2007, under the leadership of Manuel Bio, Abegoaria has been restoring and revitalising historic wine projects, today bringing together wineries and estates across regions such as Alentejo, Douro, Dão, Lisboa, Tejo, Vinhos Verdes, Beira Interior, Algarve and the Azores. The group combines tradition and innovation in the production of highly authentic wines, ranging from classic references to fine wine projects, while also investing in gourmet products and wine tourism.

The acquisition of Vidigal Wines in 2021 marked an important step in the group’s international expansion, strengthening Abegoaria’s presence in dozens of international markets and consolidating its position as one of Portugal’s leading wine groups.
