Heritage of a tradition
It was from 1700 onwards that the Meireles Family started to grow grapes and produce wine in Celorico de Basto, a municipality located in the Minho Province, Northern region of Portugal. In 1980, Gonçalo Cristovam Meireles Dias, married to D. Angela Maria Meireles Dias, took over Quinta da Cerca, one of the beautiful properties of the Meireles Family. From this time onwards, they began to invest in the expansion of wine production in the Vinho Verde region, building a new winery with a greater capacity for wine production. Nowadays, Adega Molares owns an area of approximately 50 hectares, producing red, white, and rosé wines.
