Reynolds Wine Growers
A story of generations, tradition, and wine in the AlentejoReynolds Wine Growers
A story of generations, tradition, and wine in the AlentejoThomas Reynolds, an English sailor and merchant, arrived in Portugal in 1820, drawn by the thriving wine trade. A father of two sons, Thomas and Robert, he settled in the Porto region, from where he supplied his London warehouse with a variety of Iberian products.
In 1838, the family entered a new phase by moving into the cork industry in Spain, gradually expanding their operations into Portugal, where they eventually settled in Estremoz. After the rest of the family departed for New Zealand, Robert remained in the Alentejo, taking charge of the business. With vision and determination, he quickly developed the enterprise, acquiring new properties and dedicating himself with particular passion and commitment to the production of high-quality wines.
The Alentejo thus became the definitive home of the Reynolds family in Portugal, with Robert as the patriarch of this lineage. From this legacy came his eldest son, Robert Rafael, followed by Carlos. Carlos, in turn, had a daughter, Gloria Reynolds.
In tribute to Gloria and to all her ancestors who made the Alentejo their home, Julian, Gloria’s son, continues the family tradition by producing a wine of excellence that bears his mother’s name — Gloria Reynolds.
