The Raki is cosidered the traditional drink of Turkey country where it is consumed annually around 60 million liters of this drink. The Raki is a distilled drink, produced essentially from dry or fresh grapes, but also there are variety produced from figs and plums. The Raki is aromatized by aniseed and it presents an alcoholic content of 45 %. The Raki accompanies traditionally the cheese "feta" and the melon, but also cucumber, lettuce and fish. When water or ice is added, the Raki acquires the aspect of milk. Perhaps for this fact and because of being a strong drink, the Turks call it the milk of lion (arslan sütü).
