Every year, Susana Esteban, with her Sidecar project, invites a prestigious winemaker to vinify a singular wine together at her winery in Alentejo. The 2018/19 Sidecar edition is the latest collaboration with Ricardo Diogo, producer and winemaker from the emblematic Barbeito winery in Madeira.

This vintage-year blend is sourced, exclusively, from the Alicante Bouschet grape variety, sourced from 70-year-old vines located in Serra de São Mamede and aged in old Italian wine barrels. The result is of extraordinary complexity, structure, and elegance, summed up to limited production of 2100 bottles and 50 magnums.

Susana Esteban is one of the Portuguese winemakers to follow. In 2012 she was awarded the most prestigious prize a winemaker can receive in Portugal, the title of "Winemaker of the Year", by Revista de Vinhos magazine, has been to date the only woman to have been awarded this distinction.
