2019 Kaputt Laranja Curtimenta white

Kaputt Curtimenta Orange Wine is a limited edition, made using a red wine-style vinification process with prolonged skin contact, followed by 30 months of ageing in used 225-litre French oak barrels. Pale straw-yellow in colour, it displays a rich and complex aromatic profile of peach and apricot, dried fruit, and delicate resinous and herbal notes. The palate offers good volume, harmonious tannins, refreshing acidity and remarkable complexity of flavour.

Barão de Vilar, Vinhos S.A. was founded in January 1996 from a stock of wines acquired by Fernando Luiz Van Zeller and passed on to his two sons Fernando and Álvaro. Its corporate name recalls a noble title granted by King Maria II of Portugal to Cristiano Nicolau Kopke, the 1st Baron of Vilar, in 1836, which by descent is in the direct possession of the family.

Before setting up Barão de Vilar, the Van Zeller family owned Quinta do Noval, one of the most renowned estates in the Port wine sector, from which comes the mythical ‘Vintage 1931 Nacional’, considered one of the two best world wines of the 20th century by Wine Spectator.

Barão de Vilar has now been renamed the Van Zeller Wine Collection, a company that represents a collection of values, ideas, stories and wines.
