2023 Barroca da Malhada rosé
概要
Barroca da Malhada rosé is made from a field blend of Touriga Nacional and Baga, with hand harvesting and artisanal winemaking, featuring spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention in the cellar. Whole bunches are pressed in a manual vertical press, allowing the purest expression of both grape varieties to be extracted. Fermentation takes place at low temperatures, followed by ageing on fine lees with bâtonnage.
It shows a clear, bright salmon colour. On the nose, it is subtle and elegant, with notes of fresh red fruit and a delicate floral touch. On the palate, it displays vibrant acidity, an engaging profile and a well-balanced body, with sufficient structure to accompany more demanding dishes, while maintaining freshness and precision.
Barroca da Malhada is an artisanal wine producer from Beira Interior, rooted in a historic estate dating back to the Middle Ages, once owned by the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With around five hectares of vineyards farmed organically and following biodynamic practices, the estate works schist-sandy soils of granitic origin in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions. The wines reflect a low-intervention approach, favouring authenticity, freshness and a true expression of place.
