This edition results from the union of two lots of wine, where the largest percentage was vinified in the Dão. In terms of vinification, the blend from the Dão region underwent alcoholic fermentation in wine presses and was then aged in French oak barrels. The blend from the Douro region was vinified in vats and granite presses by foot. After alcoholic fermentation, it is aged for 21 months in French oak barrels. The 2013 vintage Doda is produced with the traditional grape varieties of the two regions, Jaen, Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, and Tinto Cão, and was bottled without any fining process.

Rolf Niepoort was the driving force and Dirk was the creator of this project that started 17 years ago. This wine was born from Rolf Niepoort's idea that "the ideal Portuguese wine will be the one that manages to combine the elegance, freshness, and longevity of the Dão wines with the structure and power of the Douro wines, that can reconcile the fruit of the schist soils of the Douro with the aromas of oak and minerality of the granite soils of the Dão."
