1983 Barca Velha red
Description
Barca Velha from vintage 1983 reveals aromas still with some red fruit, noble wood, balsamic, earthy, tobacco, with slight resinous notes, mentholated, spices and olives. On the palate it is dry, structured and balanced between acidity and alcohol content with excellent quality and persistent tannins.
Casa Ferreirinha, acquired by Sogrape Vinhos in 1987, and its wines are synonymous with time and art. This has been the case since its foundation, in the 18th century, by the hand of Bernardo Ferreira, who saw the formula refined by his descendants, especially by his granddaughter Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, who affectionately became known as "Ferreirinha" or "Ferreirinha-da-Régua" by the people of her land. By the hands of Dona Antónia, who was twice widowed at the head of a large company, Ferreira was admirably consolidated. Her entrepreneurial spirit taught her to foresee, decide, create, teach and love, making her a figure of great projection and charisma. Thus, Barca Velha was also created, an unquestionable symbol of the highest quality Douro wines. Classic, intense, complex and elegant are the adjectives that describe what has been, since its creation in 1952, the most celebrated Portuguese wine. Barca Velha is the foundation on which Casa Ferreirinha's reputation has grown, being declared in truly exceptional years.
