1997 Quinta do Estanho Vintage Port
Description
The Quinta do Estanho Vintage 1997 is an exceptional Vintage Port crafted from grapes grown on the steep schist slopes of the Pinhão Valley. Aged in old French oak vats, it displays an intense and enveloping bouquet of ripe red berries and liquorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and robust, with flavours of blackberry and raspberry, well-integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish that beautifully reflects the noble character of this historic vintage.
Quinta do Estanho is mentioned in the first ‘De Feitoria’ wine demarcation, dating from 1757. It is situated on the left bank of the River Pinhão at an average altitude of 300 metres and has been producing quality wines for several generations. Its owner, Jaime Acácio Queiroz Cardoso, became the second producer, bottler and exporter in the entire Douro region in 1987, selling his wines directly to the portuguese and international markets.
