Description
Quinta da Ribeira is located in Meca, the old medieval municipality of Montes de Alenquer, and is currently the headquarters of the Sociedade Agrícola Felix Rocha. This farm started to be productive in the mid-nineteenth century on an initiative of Mr. Felix Rocha, grandfather of the current owners. In 1925, it was planted in a vineyard area of about 220 hetares spread over several estates in Alenquer area. In 1927, the Quinta da Ribeira comes to produce about 1750 liters of wine, from grapes of the traditional Portuguese grape varieties, Tinta Miúda, Camarate, Castelão and Preto Martinho, in red, and Fernão Pires, Arinto, Rabo de Ovelha and Vital, in white. The fourth generation of Felix Rocha family recognized the need for investment to improve the production quality investing, since 1991, the complete restructuring of the vineyards and the winery. Currently operates 60 hectares of vineyards distributed by the Quinta da Ribeira, Casal do Mato and São Cristovao.
