2010 Álvaro Castro Encruzado white
Description
Álvaro Castro Encruzado 2010 is a white wine from the Dão region, made exclusively from Encruzado grapes grown in the Lameira and Pellada vineyards. Extended skin contact and slow fermentation, followed by several months of bâtonnage, contribute greater volume and texture, beautifully balanced by the grape’s natural acidity and mineral character. A wine that expresses the elegance and distinctive terroir of the Dão.
The first historical references about Quinta da Pellada seem to be around 1570. The Dão wine region was established in 1908, framed by three mountain ranges - Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela – and preserve from the Atlantic winds, the region as very special climatic conditions and this producer Alvaro Castro is one of the best Portuguese producers and unquestionable leader in Dão wine region.
