2013 Cavalo Maluco red
Description
Cavalo Maluco red wine is produced from vines planted in loamy soils rich in calcium and silica. After fermentation in vats, it aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, where it gained complexity and elegance, resulting in a wine of great intensity and depth.
It has a deep garnet colour and a rich and expressive aroma, with floral notes, black fruits, chocolate, spices and subtle smoky hints. On the palate, it has a striking structure and good freshness, which enhances its aromatic richness and leads to a long, intense and enveloping finish.
Herdade do Portocarro, owned by the producer José Mota Capitão, is located between the districts of Setúbal and Évora, next to the Ribeira do Sado and surrounded by rice paddies and vineyards. Here, serious wines are produced that respect nature and long ageing.
