Description
This wine comes from vineyards over 80 years old, which contain a blend of over 35 indigenous varieties. The grapes are carefully selected and trodden in traditional granite presses during the maceration and fermentation process. The wine is then aged for 20 months, 70% in new barrels and 30% in second-pass French oak barrels.
Founded in 2001 by winemaking couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, the Wine & Soul company has invested in and bought old vines and properties in the Pinhão River valley.
The couple aims to create wines that express the full character of the Douro's old vines and indigenous varieties, seeking a balance between concentration, complexity, and elegance.
