Description

In the Champagne region there is a classification according to the quality of the vines from which the grapes come. When the soil and microclimate conditions are exceptional, the champagne produced is called a "Grand Cru". This is a Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs produced from the Chardonnay grape variety from 3 areas classified as Grand Cru. With low sulphur content and unfiltered, this champagne is pale yellow with fresh aromas of white flowers and honey. In the mouth, it is persistent, complex, and intense with slightly toasted notes and a good minerality.

The Drappier family tree can be traced back to the 17th century when Rémy Drappier was born in 1604, but it was not until 1808 that the family began to engage in vine growing and champagne production, when one of the Drappier family ancestors, François, settled in Urville. In 1988, deep cellars that had been dug around Reims during the reign of Napoleon III became the property of the family, and it is in these underground tunnels that the most valuable bottles of Drappier production are found, in particular the Grande Sendrée, which has been perfected over time.

Currently in the 8th generation of the family, the estate owns 62 hectares of its vineyard, together with another 50, operated by other farmers. The Drappier estate also includes some old orchards, a vegetable garden, and a farm, and has been awarded "Carbon Neutral" accreditation.
