Description

The Cazes family, which heads Château Lynch-Bages, are the proud new owners of Château Haut-Batailley, an 1855 Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac owned previously by the Des Brest-Borie family. Both families have had strong roots in the Pauillac and Médoc landscape for generations.

A challenging vintage marked by climatic hazards, 2017 was the year that will have subjected Château Haut-Batailley's vines to the test of water stress and hot late spring temperatures that lasted into early summer. This wine resulted from extreme dedication to the vineyards by the Château Haut-Batailley team and is a brilliant blend between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The purity and intensity of the fruit, the very toasty notes imparted by wood aging, and the olfactory panoply that seduces with its great expressiveness, reveals a superb texture, worthy of a Pauillac.
