Description

In 1689 Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, an influential wine merchant and administrator of the prestigious Latour and Margaux estates, bought plots of vines near the Latour estate to create Enclos Rauzan. These vineyards were part of his daughter Thérèse's dowry when she married Baron Jacques Pichon de Longueville in 1694, the year Château Pichon Baron was founded.

This historic estate remained in the same family for generations, when in 1850, it was split in two. The section belonging to Baron Raoul Pichon de Longueville became the estate of Baron Pichon. The second section, belonging to his three sisters, became Pichon Comtesse.

Thus, Château Pichon Baron is known to be one of the greatest historic properties in Bordeaux, respecting a strict selection policy in the vineyard and the cellar, expressing in the best way the unique quality of its terroir.
