2019 Quinta do Banco Reserva red
Description
Quinta do Banco Reserva red is made from the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão grape varieties. Around 40 per cent of the blend is aged in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 60 per cent in French and American oak barrels for 10 months. On tasting, the aromas of forest fruits and jam stand out, in harmony with the toasted notes from the barrel ageing. The finish is voluminous and soft, with persistence and balance.
The first references to Quinta das Cabanas date back to the 18th century, when it was involved in the Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro, where landmark no. 18 of the Pombaline Demarcations of 1756 was placed. Today, the family that owns it has also acquired other properties, located in the Baixo Corgo sub-region, totalling around 90 hectares with vineyards aged between 25 and 35 years old, planted with indigenous grape varieties.
