Wine with a bright straw-yellow colour, it offers rich aromas of stone fruits, slight salinity, and subtle pastry notes. On the palate, it is vibrant and enveloping, with refreshing acidity and a lot of creaminess. The long and intense finish makes this wine very gastronomic.
With a history dating back to the early 18th century, the main house was built in 1720 and surprisingly managed to survive the 1755 earthquake, due to the granite structure of the Sintra Mountains. In 1903 wine was no longer produced, but 100 years later, most western vineyards in Europe were replanted and the winery modernised. The wines from Casal Sta. Maria are the result of Nature's expression and the unique terroir surrounding the vineyards, which are located on the coastal edge of Serra de Sintra.
