Located in Folgosa, Quinta dos Frades is one of the most beautiful and emblematic properties of the Dourowine region. Their records back to the year 1256, when it was donated to the Monastery of Santa Maria de Salzedas, becoming one of the most important agricultural units that the order of Cister owned in this region. A castellated house, imposing and majestic, dominates the 200 hectares of the estate. Breathtaking scenery, stretching from the left bank of the Douro over 1900 meters, punctuated by a wide variety of flashy cypress, orange, almond and olive trees. The property has 100 hectares of vineyards, with almost half over 90 years.
Taking advantage of the knowledge accumulated for centuries in wine production, the estate launched in 2008, a portfolio of wines, among which stands out the Quinta dos Friars DOC Douro red, awarded and recognized as one of the best in the Douro.
