2021 Sparkling Wine La Volée Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature
Description
The La Volée Blanc de Blancs is a multi-parcel sparkling wine originating from the Sangalhos area, where the vines, over 20 years old, grow in clay-limestone and sandy-loam soils. Composed of the traditional white grape varieties Cercial, Bical, and Arinto, the sparkling wine reflects the richness and diversity of the region's terroirs. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and is complemented by a partial aging of 5 to 6 months in 500L French oak barrels, over 10 years old. After the winter cold, the sparkling wine ages sur lies in an underground cellar for 12 months following the second fermentation, with pugnetage and classic remuage in pupitres to provide structure and complexity. The final dégorgement completes this sparkling wine, which honours its name "à la Volée," evoking the tradition and finesse of a great sparkling wine.
Geographic Wines is a project by Daniela Matias and Nuno Morais Vaz, aiming to create wines that showcase the authentic characteristics of the grape varieties and the terroirs from which they originate.
