Carrocel from Quinta da Pellada is only produced in the highest quality years of the Touriga Nacional grape variety. Fermented in a wine press, it is ruby-coloured, fresh and fruity, with excellent intensity and elegance. The aroma is full of personality with notes of plum and cherry. The palate is firm, with good acidity and soft tannins.
The first historical references about Quinta da Pellada seem to be around 1570. The Dão wine region was established in 1908, framed by three mountain ranges - Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela – and preserve from the Atlantic winds, the region as very special climatic conditions and this producer Alvaro Castro is one of the best Portuguese producers and unquestionable leader in Dão wine region.
