Description

The Vallado Touriga Nacional Red is produced exclusively from the Touriga Nacional grape and ages for around 16 months in 225-litre French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. It offers a highly concentrated aroma, dominated by balsamic notes from the oak, ripe red fruits and an elegant hint of violet. On the palate, it shows remarkable balance and fruit concentration, with mature, rounded tannins supporting a long, fresh and persistent finish.

One of the Douro’s most prestigious estates is Quinta do Vallado, once owned by D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira — the legendary “Ferreirinha” — and still today held by her descendants. Vallado wines were, for many years, unjustly overlooked, but have now rightfully reclaimed their place. They are wines of great significance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be among its leading names.

Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado stands as one of the oldest estates in the Douro. Located near Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River, this emblematic property is currently managed by João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of Ferreirinha and responsible for the company’s management and winemaking respectively.
