2022 Inóspito Chão de Areia Vinhas Velhas white
Description
The Inóspito Chão de Areia Vinhas Velhas white comes from two plots of vines over 120 years old, situated more than 500 metres above sea level, on poor, sandy, granite-origin soils. The manual and careful harvest ensures the purity of expression of this unique Douro, with unparalleled freshness. Spontaneous fermentation, using indigenous yeasts, is followed by ageing in French oak barrels from the Bertrange forest, where the wine gains complexity and personality. With the varieties Rabigato, Viosinho, Gouveio, Códega de Larinho, Síria, and Folgasão, this wine reveals the minerality, acidity, and freshness typical of the high-altitude terroir, reflecting the richness and uniqueness of the deeper, less explored Douro.
Geographic Wines is a project by Daniela Matias and Nuno Morais Vaz, aiming to create wines that showcase the authentic characteristics of the grape varieties and the terroirs from which they originate.
