2023 Castelo de Azurara Jaen Grande Reserva red
Description
With an engaging bright red colour, the Castelo de Azurara Jaen Grande Reserva red stands out for its intense bouquet, marked by floral and red fruit notes. On the palate, it reveals smoothness and balance, with well-integrated tannins and delicate freshness. Fermentation in stainless steel lagares and six months’ ageing in wood provide structure and elegance without losing the vibrant character of the Jaen variety.
The Mangualde Cooperative Winery was established in the 1960s, a period marked by the promotion, expansion, and implementation of the cooperative spirit and values in Portugal. Castelo de Azurara embodies the historical identity of the region linked to its monumental heritage, combining the medieval name of the town – Azurara da Beira – with one of the region’s iconic symbols, Our Lady of the Castle. Thus, this cooperative’s wine brand was born.
