2023 Monte Meão white
Description
Monte Meão white comes from two vineyards, Vinha do Rio and Vinha do Janeanes, planted on alluvial and schist soils with the Arinto and Rabigato grape varieties respectively. This wine aged for 5 months in barrels and a further 4 months in vats. It's very mineral, with discreet, well-integrated wood, excellent volume in the mouth, citrus notes and a long, complex finish.
The Ferreirinha estates are probably the most emblematic of the Douro. Among these, Quinta do Vale Meão is of enormous symbology, as it was a project devised from scratch since the estate was acquired on virgin land.
On its merit, Quinta do Vale Meão is truly one of Portugal's most interesting and coveted wines. A deserved highlight for the quality this wine offers in all the vintages in which it is released. The Quinta also produces a second wine, Meandro do Vale Meão, made from the younger vines.
