Description

This Quinta da Vacaria, produced exclusively from the Gouveio grape variety, has a pale yellow colour with greenish reflections. The aroma is fruity, with a predominance of stone fruits and white pulp, combined with notes of tea and balsamic. It is a full-bodied wine with good structure, rich in flavour and a pleasant finish.

The Quinta da Vacaria, one of the oldest in the region (first record dates from 1616), is located on the banks of the Douro River near the city of Régua, in the heart of the oldest Demarcated Region in the world, the Douro. The Rabelo boats used to dock at the estate quayside to load the casks full of Port wine and transport them to Gaia, at the mouth of the river, where they were sold in bulk to the whole world, leaving behind their hidden identity, since these wooden casks were not even marked with the producer's seal. At their destination, the wine was bottled and labelled with the brand of the foreign merchants who bought them, however, some of them came to gain a lot of prestige.
