Description

Clarete Barroca da Malhada Baga is made from the Baga grape variety, with hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention in the cellar. Ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks and in second-use Portuguese chestnut barrels. Produced without added sulphites, chestnut blossom powder is used as a natural alternative with preservative and antioxidant properties.

It shows a translucent red colour. On the nose, it reveals notes of raspberry compote, mint and a delicate earthy character. On the palate, it is fresh and well balanced, with lively red fruit, a juicy texture and a very authentic expression.

Barroca da Malhada is an artisanal wine producer from Beira Interior, rooted in a historic estate dating back to the Middle Ages, once owned by the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With around five hectares of vineyards farmed organically and following biodynamic practices, the estate works schist-sandy soils of granitic origin in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions. The wines reflect a low-intervention approach, favouring authenticity, freshness and a true expression of place.
