It was in 1927 that 11 associates led by Domingos Silva and Ângelo Neves decided to found Aliança in Sangalhos (Anadia), which has been in existence for over 80 years. It started its activity by immediately exporting to Brazil, Africa, and Europe, and today, more than 50% of its production is for export, especially wines, sparkling wines, and brandies, Aliança's brand image in Portugal and in the 60 countries to which it exports. In 2007, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal acquired the majority capital of Aliança, and the company became part of the Bacalhôa Group. The social designation of Caves Aliança S.A was changed to Aliança Vinhos de Portugal S.A., and the institutional image was also changed. Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, one of the largest and most innovative wine companies in Portugal, has developed over the years a wide range of wines that have earned it a solid reputation and the preference of national and international consumers. Present in 7 Portuguese wine regions, with a total of 1200ha of vineyards, 40 farms, 40 different varieties, and 4 wine centres (wineries), the company stands out in the market for its size and 70% autonomy in its own production.
