Description
The Blackett Tawny 10 Years Port displays an intense tawny hue and a rich, complex aromatic profile, with notes of dried figs, caramel and spices. On the palate, it is fresh, sweet and indulgent, with balanced acidity and well-integrated alcohol, leading to a long, fresh and persistent finish. Versatile at the table, it pairs beautifully with pâtés, aged cheeses and desserts based on dried fruits.
Blackett, created in 2013 by Alchemy Wines, is a brand that honours the rich tradition of Port wine in the historic Douro region, the oldest Protected Designation of Origin in the world. Its wines, aged in centuries-old barrels, reflect the dedication of local winegrowers and the authenticity of the terroir. Combining human heritage and the transformative power of time, Blackett stands out for creating unique, high quality wines.
Tawny are red wines made from the same grapes as Ruby, but which are only aged for two to three years in the vats and then transferred to the barrels. These allow the wine to have more contact with the wood and the air. Tawny wines breathe more and oxidise and age quickly. Due to the high level of oxidation, Tawny wines lose the initial colour of red wines, gaining lighter shades of amber and flavours of dried fruit such as walnuts or almonds. With age, Tawny wines gain even more aromatic complexity, enriching their flavours.
