In 1720, the houses C. Marey and Comte Liger-Belair were founded, later joining forces in 1852 to become one of the most prestigious references in the production and trade of Burgundy wines. Over the generations, the family has worked consistently to enhance the value of the estate, crafting wines of outstanding quality from grapes grown in their own vineyards, which have belonged to the family since the 18th century.

A decisive moment came in 1982, with the restructuring of the estate and the establishment of an agricultural partnership with three winegrowers in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the Côte d’Or. In 2021, Thibault Liger-Belair, the current owner, took direct responsibility for the vineyards and founded Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, continuing this family legacy. His approach is rooted in a profound respect for the vineyard, recognised as the true source of each wine’s quality, allowing every parcel to express its full natural potential.
