The Quinta do Ortigão is located in the heart of Anadia, the center of Bairrada. It blends tradition, modernity, and the vision of Augusto Brandão Alegre. From the beginning, the owners' main focus has been on carefully selecting and planting chosen grape varieties to produce highly complex wines. Notable white varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Arinto, Bical, and Maria Gomes. Among red varieties, most Bairrada wines are made from the Baga grape, often complemented by three other high-quality varietals: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

In 2001, the family decided to craft their own estate wine, equipped with a modern, well-sized winery.
